The benefits of class blogging as published in the article “Reader Responsiveness 2.0 “ in the March 2009 issue of Educational Leadership can be summarized as follows.
Blogs can be used to create interactive classroom reading communities. Today, many students text, instant message, and e-mail each other. Because blogging is similar to these activities, it is a useful engaging tool to leverage technology in a way that creates a non-threatening forum for students to write and express their thoughts about what they have read. Blogging mirrors the written communication methods that are preferred by students. Student blogs can be a way to get more students to discuss and write about what they are reading. It can lead to increased reading and deeper understanding of what is read. Blogging can also be an easy voice for shy students and foster supportive relationships among students.
