How to Use Blogs in the Classroom

After reading this article, I can see how techology has become a great influence in the classroom and at home for students.  The teacher realized that she had a mixture of students in her class, where she had to find a way to reach all her student, so that they could all do the assignment. She find the way by allowing the students to use blogs. The students would read a book of their choice, and each week they had to write a blog and also comment on someone else’s blog. This allowed for the students to become better readers because they had comments from other people other than their teacher.

This can be used in my classroom, by each of my student is on a different reading level. I could allow the students to read a book of their choice, and reflect on it so that other students could read their blogs and comment. The difference would be that the students would read books based on their grade level, and that they would need help from the teachers to type what they said.

The students could also do this at home with parents. All my students parents are very helpful with working on IEP goals at home with their children. I could send home books with the students each week, for them to read and post a blog. Then all the students from each of the different classrooms could learn from each other based on the blogs, and practice typing goals and writing goals.

In the end, reading this article has help me to see that using technology in the classroom, helps the students learn and become social in a different way. I hope that in the next few weeks, I can start to use more technology in my class.
